The ideal conditions for an exceptional production
The wines of Herdade do Perú could only live up to their name, their aromatic flavour being exclusive to this territory.
Produced within a demarcated area of cultivated land, they reflect the physical homogeneity of the terrain and the rich properties of the soil where solid, distinctive vines grew and matured, mirroring the family bonds that have strengthened around this land and estate, under the attentive and wise gaze of the Serra da Arrábida.

Sustainably produced from the finest hand-picked grapes, our wines express, on one hand, an urgent vision for the future, and on the other, the simple sophistication on which the long history of this estate and this family is built.
The peculiar soul of Herdade do Perú is woven into wines that are all very well defined. The brand images on the bottles are small-scale versions of paintings by various family members, whose inclination for the visual arts is as natural as their connection to the land.
Production
The ideal conditions for an exceptional production
Upon receiving Herdade do Perú from a beloved aunt in 2016, João Brito e Cunha decided to sustainably replant around thirteen hectares of vineyard.
Only by caring for the future, with organic, zero-waste production, could this man, passionate about both the land and painting, honour a land shaped by an inimitable family history and keep its renown alive.
In this wine house, none of the stages of the production process, from vine to table, is left to chance, with the pace of nature scrupulously respected.
Organic matter from the farm's animals is stored for over a year to later be used as fertiliser in the fields. The sheep also play an important role in clearing the vineyard after harvest.
Throughout the year, Casa Grande relies on the expertise of winemakers Jorge Rosa Santos, Rui Jorge Freire and António Figueiredo, whose signatures appear on the labels of our wines.
The grape harvest is carried out manually every year by a team of 10 to 12 farm workers.
